Practise Reflecting

Here is an activity to help you learn how to show people you understand their feelings. You can use some of the words in the feelings list to help you.

Reflecting Feelings

Say 2 or 3 feelings you think the person's words show. Then make up something to say back to the person that shows you understand how they feel.

1. The person's words: I am amazed at how many people came to the party. It was a lot of fun!

What you say back _____________________________________________

2. The person's words: Why do things always end up this way? I always seem to be rushing at the last minute to get things done.

What you say back _____________________________________________

3. The person's words: I am so mad I could just scream. What right does he have to play loud music all night long?

What you say back _____________________________________________

4. The person's words: I have so much work to do. Sometimes I wish I had a magic wand, so I could make it disappear
